(Owen is my 11th grandchild, fourth grandson and John is my 12th Grandchild, fifth grandson, they were born 4 1/2 months apart).
I got Owen's quilt done in time for Christmas 2010 and I just finished John's this week - in time for his 6 month birthday (February 2011).
In making these quilts, the first thing I did was go and buy some soft blue flannel for the backing. Then I took some of the flannel and cut out the letters of their names and appliqued with a satin stitch their names toward the bottom of the quilt. I did a random machine quilting on each of them and then used the backing for the binding. They were alot of fun to work on!
I named the quilts My First Bible Stories.
I will have to update Owen and John's favorite things as they get a little bit older since I am not too sure of their preferences at this time! The thing that I do know is that they are two of my favorite things! Both boys are such good babies - just what was needed in each family when they were born. Owen has the biggest, most beautiful eyes that you've ever seen! John is always happy and smiling. I say when he smiles that sunbeams shoot off his face and fill up the room.
I get to see John at least once a week if not more and wish I could see Owen as frequently but he just lives too far away! Niki is really good with sending me pictures via email and we do get to see him over Skype so I am blessed in that way.
It is fun to watch both Owen and John grow up and I hope they will have fun as cousins as they get older since they are so close in age.
Owen and John, I hope you enjoy your quilts. I hope your Mommy and Daddy and siblings will help teach you the stories of the Bible. I always loved Bible stories when I was a little girl. I love you both!

Real cute. I like the colors. I look forward to teaching him about every story on his quilt. We already use it every day for his "play" blanket.
