Amelia Quilt for Lauren

I had decided that Amelia by Me and My Sister Designs for Moda Fabrics would be a possible fabric choice for Lauren’s quilt.  She had said she liked pink and purple and I knew she liked to paint.  The description for Amelia mentioned the look of watercolors on some of the prints so I thought it would be perfect.  There are 40 different prints included in this fabric palette.
Here is the write up for the fabric description: “This group has soft and feminine floral shapes with a BRIGHT attitude! It started out with stronger flower shapes and morphed into something completely different and softer. Some of the prints even remind me of watercolor prints”.
Conversation with Lauren over the phone 11/19/2011:

I called to ask Lauren if she still liked pink and purple.  She said yes, and she likes red, blue and black and lots of colors.  She then went on to tell me, “I like shiny things like diamonds, emeralds and rubies but especially rubies”.

Notes I wrote on November 2, 2012:
I started Laurens quilt in February of 2012. I decided the pattern I would use would be a Disappearing 9 Patch.    I got the whole top done that month and then things happen and I did not get back to it until November 1, 2012.  Lauren will be here in a week to visit and I am hoping to have it done so I can give it to her then.  I need to add the borders and then put it together.  What I want to do with her quilt that I haven’t done before is use a bee stencil and stitch some flying bees on the outside border of the quilt.  Maybe add flowers at the corner?
Notes written on November 10, 2012:
I mostly finished Lauren’s quilt at 10:17 pm last night and she and Brent arrived at our home about ½ hour later after flying up from Irvine.  I say mostly because I need to wash it and put on the label.
I decided I wanted to try adding a bee flight from the bee to the hive.  I haven’t done anything like this before.  It was on the outside border. I drew on bee on the lower left corner and then a beehive on the lower right.   Then I decided I wanted a bee in flight. I didn't draw the path, I just tried to feel what I was doing while stitching free-motion, like the bee in flight and it worked and turned out just how I had hoped.
Lauren is my name sake with her middle name of Deborah, which means "the bee", so that is why I included a bee on her quilt.
On Laurens label, I had some purple binding left over so I framed her label with the binding.
I worked on the stitching and label this morning while Papa, Brent and Lauren were at the Train Show here in Roseville.

We (Lauren and I) are going to a quilt show this afternoon and I plan on giving the quilt to her after we return.
I like to wash my quilts after they are done to give them an old fashioned cozy feel.  So, I got it totally finished and washed and then gave it to her:
